Team 226 is working with schools in local underprivileged communities to provide STEM kits that aim to teach students about technology and science and prepare them for professional careers in the 21st Century.A new addition this year, our team started an initiative where we donate STEAM kits and a curriculum we have developed to centers in underprivileged areas. We are aiming to provide students from underprivileged backgrounds the opportunity to foster their STEAM interests. To achieve this, we have purchased STEAM kits including Spheros, MakeBots, snap circuits, and lego kits along with creating a curriculum to allow students to explore the possibilities and reaches of their talents. Members of our team will visit the Boys and Girls Club we have partnered with and guide these children through our step-by-step instructions and explorations. Using these STEAM kits, they are able to learn the basis of thought that goes into programming and even begin introductory programming. With our other STEAM kits, they can nurture interests and understand the STEAM principles of innovation, design, and build through self-discovery. From this initiative, we hope that these students can gain equal exposure to STEAM and cultivate their skills.
