Maker Space 4 All

Makerspace 4 All is our team’s new initiative that aims to engage students with special needs from centers around our Troy community with STEAM. To support students with mental and learning disabilities like autism, we host robot demonstrations and introduce them to programming as well as engineering concepts through STEAM kits such as snap circuits, Legos, and virtual reality kits, and our HoloLens. In this friendly learning environment, students are encouraged to explore different STEAM fields that interest them and collaborate with their peers to learn in an engaging way. Our team has conducted this event at the Early Autism Services, the Troy Center for Transition, Troy & Athens high schools as well as four middle schools in the Troy School District. We plan to expand this initiative to other communities around Michigan in the future. Makerspace 4 all aims to make STEAM learning a more inclusive place for students with disabilities and make sure everyone has access to the resources they need to learn successfully.
